FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES
The American Economic Recovery and Revitilization Act (AERRA) of 2009, known more popularly as the Economic Stimulus Package, offers an extraordinary set of opportunities to researchers at Johns Hopkins. Click here for more information and documentation about particular areas of research impacted by this significant legislation and what JHU faculty can do now.
While faculty contacts with program officials at funding agencies will always be the single most important source of information on funding opportunities, the following information may be of assistance during any search for outside funding:
AGENCY WEBSITES: These links take you to the websites of sponsoring agencies, including FEDERAL and NON-FEDERAL agencies, which are frequent sources of funding to Hopkins.
SEARCHABLE FUNDING DATABASES: The Provost's Office subscribes to two systems (IRIS and COS) which provide both keyword search capability and email alert mechanisms to assist in locating agencies and programs which may support specific research at Hopkins. These may be used free of charge by any JHU employee working from a JHU address. In addition, links to various non-subscription information locators are also available and may be accessed from any address.
JHU-COORDINATED PROGRAMS: Some funding sources, both federal and non-federal, have programs for which proposals must be submitted on behalf of the whole institution or which allow a limited number of applications. These programs, many of which require internal peer review, are coordinated via the Provost's Office. All currently known programs of this nature are listed at this site together with agency and internal deadlines and other pertinent information.
